The Advisory Board is composed of Vanderbilt faculty and undergraduate students from across the University who approve editorial and organizational policies for the Journal. Members are appointed for two-year terms by the Provost. Additionally, the Advisory Board selects the editorial staff through a competitive application process.

The Advisory Board recognizes the value of student participation in University affairs and annually welcomes five undergraduate students who serve as full voting members, including one student from each of the four colleges and the current editor. Members of the Advisory Board who hold ex-officio, non-voting seats include the University Librarian, Vice Chancellor for Public Affairs, Associate Provost for Innovation through Technology, and the Director of the Vanderbilt University Press.
